Malpur is a small town in the state of Gujarat.
It is a part of the Aravalli district. The town is located way inland,
quite close to the eastern border of the state. Gujarati and Hindi is spoken here. Malpur is located at 23.359094°North and 73.464550°East with an average elevation of 4 metres (13 feet).
History of Malpur
Malpur was once a princely state and was founded by middle of the fifteenth century. Rawal Virajmal, the son of Rao Kiratsinghji of Idar State, was the successor of this state. he sat on the throne on 12 April 1882, succeeded by his son Rawal Dipsinhji Sheosinhji, born in 1863. The last ruler of this state was Rawal Shri Gambhirsinhji Himatsinhji who was born 27 October 1914. He received his education from Scott College, Sadra and Mayo College, Ajmer and ruled nominally till 1947. Malpur State then merged with Baroda State under the Attachment Scheme in December 1943. Finally, on 1 May 1949,the Baroda State acceded to the Indian Union.
